When looking for a badminton club for you or your child, how should you decide which is the best club to join?
Eagles Badminton Club have been awarded Premier Club status by Badminton England, the sports national governing body. Here are the criteria that have been fulfilled in order to achieve this:
The Club must be accredited to Badminton England
The club must have a designated Welfare Officer
All committee members must have attended Child Protection training
All coaches must be suitably qualified, with DBS checks, registered with Badminton England and hold valid insurance
The club must have a constitution in place
The club should carry out risk assessments and have safety procedures in place
There must be access to first aid at all sessions
The club should use membership forms and keep accurate records
The club should keep registers of attendance at every session
Furthermore, Badminton England’s Find A Club service recommends you should ask the following questions when looking for a badminton club:
Does the club hold Premier Club status?
Does the club adopt the Badminton England Safeguarding Policy?
Does the club have a Welfare Officer?
Do all the coaches hold a Badminton England coaching qualification?
Are the coaches registered to Badminton England?
Is the club clear about who has DBS checks with Badminton England?
Does the club promote Codes of Ethics and Conduct?
Does the club adopt the Badminton England Equality Policy?
Are you invited to attend a club session in advance of joining?
Does the club hold social events outside of badminton?
Is the club run by a well organised and proactive committee?
